At Paws and Claws Grooming, our top priority is the health, safety, and wellbeing of your pet and our groomer. To ensure a smooth, safe, and positive grooming experience, we kindly ask all owners to review and agree to the following policies:

🐾 Coat Condition, Matting & Clippers

• All pets will be assessed prior to grooming.

• If de-matting is no longer safe or humane, the groomer will contact you to discuss a clip-off.

• Severely matted pets will be clipped short. While every precaution is taken, there is a higher risk of skin irritation, minor nicks, or pre-existing skin conditions being exposed once mats are removed.

• The groomer cannot be held responsible for effects caused by severe matting but will provide information and aftercare when required.
   

🐾 Elderly, Anxious or Sensitive Pets

We always work within each pet’s physical and emotional limits. This may include:

• Allowing breaks

• Modifying the groom

• Using alternative drying methods

• Providing physical support during longer stands

This may mean the final groom is not “perfect,” but your pet’s comfort always comes first.
 

🐾 Double-Coated Breeds

Owners requesting a full clip on double-coated breeds (e.g., Maremmas, Border Collies) must understand the potential long-term coat effects. Please research this option prior to booking.
 

🐾 Cat Grooming

All cats must have their nails clipped before grooming to help prevent accidental injuries to the groomer.
If you are unhappy with the final groom, please contact us within 48 hours so we can make any necessary adjustments.
 

🐾 Muzzling & Safety Management

If you have given permission to muzzle your pet, the groomer will only do so if absolutely necessary for the safety of everyone involved.
If you request no muzzle use, please understand this may limit what can safely be achieved in the groom. You will be contacted if safety concerns arise.
 

🐾 Duty of Care

• Your pet will be treated with the highest level of care and respect at all times.

• You will be notified immediately if any concerns or incidents arise.

• In cases where your pet appears unwell prior to or during the groom, the groomer reserves the right to postpone services until veterinary clearance is provided.
   

🐾 Mobile Grooming Requirements

For mobile grooming services, the owner must provide access to:

• An outdoor tap

• A nearby power outlet
   

🐾 Cancellations

Cancellations within 24 hours of the appointment time will incur the full grooming fee unless prior arrangements have been discussed.
 

🐾 Confidentiality

All information shared with Paws and Claws Grooming is private and confidential and will remain so during and after your service.
 

🐾 Owner Responsibility

• Owners must provide accurate and complete information regarding their pet’s health, behaviour, and any special needs PRIOR to the groom.

• The groomer will take responsibility for any harm caused by their own error.

• Any additional costs caused by undisclosed behavioural or health concerns may be the owner’s responsibility.
